Top Ten Scariest Mario SoundtracksHalloween is coming up (as if I haven't already said it in my two previous lists), so this time, I decided to make the scariest soundtracks in Mario games list. There were a lot of creepy and unsettling songs from Mario games out there, and here are the absolute scariest ones, without further ado, let's start!
The Top Ten Scariest Mario Soundtracks
Of course it's #1
This is, hands down, the SCARIEST Mario song ever created in a Mario game! Heck, I can't even believe this is IN A Mario GAME! Mario isthe series mostly known for its bright atmosphere and happy storylines. But as might you know Super Paper Mario is ANYTHING but happy! This game was one of the absolute scariest Mario games I have ever played! Not only is the story super scary and well-done, some of the songs IN the game are super scary as well! The most notably example in River Twigz Bed and this song will scar you if you're a little kid! This song sounds like you're in h***! Those creepy voices in the background and distorting music makes this one of the scariest, if not, the scariest pieces of music in the whole Mario series! - darthvadern
World of Nothing makes a close second on this list, and this song is from the same game as River Twygz Bed, and this is proof Super Paper Mario is scary! The fact that this is the music that plays after a world gets destroyed makes it even scarier! The overall song itself is super scary as well as it sounds so creepy and unsettling. One of the scariest songs in mario history! - darthvadern
This song sounded like it could be a Corpse Party soundtrack! This song isn't that scary but I kinda liked it.
I wasn't sure if I was going to have this one or the second phase of the shadow queen boss fight. But since the second one was more "badass-ery" and hectic, I went with the first phase since it had a more calm and creepy tone than the second phase. I mean just listen to it! This song is pure scariness! - darthvadern
Really, this song just screams creepines as it starts! Whenever I hear this song I picture myself isolated somewhere in a frozen ice palace (Superstar Saga and Frozen joke intended), it gets even creepier at 0:45 when those weird and unsettling sounds come out of nowhere - darthvadern
You wouldn't think a soundtrack from a NES game would make this list, but that's not true. The original castle theme from the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES is pure creepy and you feel really isolated! I went with the NES version instead of the SNES one because that one didn't have the same scary feel this one has - darthvadern
You may say most Bowser Castle soundtracks aren't that sacary, and that is certainly true, most Bowser Castle soundtracks are very upbeat and there's a lot of things going out in the background (Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8's Bowser Castle themes to be more specific), but this soundtrack of Bowser's Castle from Mario Kart 64 is totally different! It has a creepy feel to it and it sounds so spooky. Now I will admit that Mario Kart: Double Dash's Bowser Castle music was spooky as well, not not nearly as spooky as this one. This one is the spookiest Bowser's Castle theme! - darthvadern
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the game that revolves around jokes and laughter, well until the end of the jokes (pun intended). This song sounds really isolated and it feels like you're alone during this song. Also, you know what I just realized? Frozen ripped of this area in the game, or at least was inspired by this area - darthvadern
This is a perfect example of a song that makes you feel very isolated and alone, and it's definitely a bit creepy, ESPECIALLY the inside bowser version, which is the version I have on my list. the one that had creepier sound effects! Also, Mario Star Scramble 2: Ghost Island anyone? - darthvadern
This song from Super Mario 64 is pretty well done! It's scary, creepy and unsettling, it really fits the mansion as well since it's big and spooky. Very scary (no pun intended) - darthvadern
This entire song sounds very unsettling. It has somewhat of a similar feel to Castle theme from Super Mario Bros., but somewhat less creepy. But this song is still scary enough to be on the list. Especially the GBA version of this song is creepy! - darthvadern
