Top 10 Scariest Super Mario Characters
Halloween is coming up, so I decided to make a list of the scariest characters in the Mario universe.
Here are the scariest Mario characters.
-
Dimentio
Dimentio is a sinister, jester-like magician and the main antagonist of the 2007 Nintendo Wii game Super Paper Mario. He is known for his deceptive nature and reality-bending powers.
One of his key abilities is the creation of Dimension D, a realm he controls. He manipulates events throughout... read more
Dimentio is without a doubt the scariest Mario character ever! At first, he might seem like a charming magician who's more light-hearted than the other minions of Count Bleck (SPOILERS). As you proceed through your adventure, he gets more and more mysterious. Finally, he reveals that he's betraying the Count because he wants the Chaos Heart for himself so he can delete the whole universe and create new "perfect" worlds for himself. If that's not scary, then I don't know what is. He's truly a psychopath!
Dimentio the psychopath. Well, sort of. You see, he wanted the Chaos Heart so he could create a perfect world (while committing mass genocide in the process).
So he did have good intentions behind his actions.
-
Shadow Queen
The Shadow Queen is the final boss and overarching antagonist of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, released in 2004. She is widely regarded as one of the most difficult and memorable bosses in the Paper Mario series. The Shadow Queen attempts to engulf the world in darkness and is sealed away behind... read more
Possibly the most terrifying moment from the Shadow Queen is during the first part of the battle when she literally devours the entire audience as they all scream in agony and replenishes her health.
I haven't played Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door yet, but from what I've heard, she is a soul that wants to take over the world, and she looks terrifying in her true form! She's so creepy!
-
Count Bleck
Count Bleck, whose real name is Lord Blumiere, is the central antagonist in the 2007 Nintendo Wii video game Super Paper Mario. Throughout most of the game, he serves as the main villain, seeking to destroy all worlds out of despair over a lost love. By the end of the story, he experiences redemption... read more
Of course, Count Bleck makes this list as well. He isn't as scary as Dimentio because, well, Count Bleck isn't a psychopath like him, but the fact that he was so depressed to the point where he decided to summon the Chaos Heart because he was so depressed for spoiler reasons. He's truly the best Mario villain out there! As well as one of the greatest Mario characters of all time!
His story is a tragic one. You see, he fell in love with a woman named Timpini. They were a great couple until Bleck's father found out. The father literally wiped Timpini's mind and forced her to walk the dimensions until she died. So, what did Bleck do? He stole the Dark Prognostic and killed his entire race, then he tried to destroy all worlds because he had nothing to live for (basically reverse suicide).
-
King Boo
In the Super Mario series, King Boo is the leader of the Boos and serves as a recurring antagonist. He is a ghostly figure depicted as a large white Boo wearing a crown, resembling the one worn by Princess Peach. King Boo often allies with King Bowser in attempts to thwart Mario and his friends.... read more
What would a scary Mario list be without the king of ghosts himself, King Boo? One thing that makes him pretty scary is that he is the only, and I mean ONLY, Mario villain that has actually managed to capture Mario! That is an accomplishment! King Boo is easily one of the most scary Mario villains. However, he isn't nearly as scary as the characters above.
-
Cackletta
Cackletta is a witch from the Beanbean Kingdom and the main antagonist of "Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga." She is known for her maniacal laughter and plans to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom by stealing Princess Peach's voice. Her name is a pun on the word "cackle," emphasizing her witch-like persona... read more
Cackletta is very creepy! She might not have much motivation other than ruling the world, but her design is very creepy! She gets even creepier in the game when she (SPOILERS) possesses Bowser's body and becomes Bowletta, and then you get to fight her very own soul, which is creepy at best! Truly creepy.
-
Mimi
This particular character wouldn't be on the list, but this character gives you the lovely image of a little girl's neck cracking and spinning around and then turning into a demon spider. Very lovely (not).
The sounds she makes while cracking her neck are just gross.
-
Antasma
Although I haven't played that much of Dream Team Bros. yet, Antasma has a very creepy design! Just look at him! Badass and creepy! I love him!
-
Bowser
Bowser is the main antagonist of the Mario Bros. franchise. From kidnapping Princess Peach to disrupting games in the Mario Party spinoff series, this king of the Koopas has become a recurring enemy in the series. He first appeared in the 1985 video game Super Mario Bros., in which he kidnapped Princess... read more
Now, you might be thinking, "Hey! He's not scary! He just has an obsession with Peach!" First off, if you ever played the original Paper Mario (which I haven't yet), Bowser manages to steal the Star Rod that can grant him any wish, and he defeated the only ones who could guard it. And you know Bowser and the Star Rod together creates chaos and scariness! On top of that, in the Galaxy games, he shows some intimidation. Truly scary!
-
The Lord of Lightning
Do I even need to explain? He's the most visually striking boss battle in the whole Mario series and he is so big! I consider him to be a separate character and not just a boss since he does have dialogue and you can speak to him.
Why is there Skyrim in my Mario?
-
Gringill
-
?
Whomp
-

Pokey
-
Bully
-
Nastasia
She can hypnotize people into saying things against their will! This might not sound scary, but once you play Super Paper Mario, you know how much she almost destroyed the universe with this power.
-
Unagi the Eel
-
Boohemoth
-
Waluigi
Waluigi is a tall, self-centered, and rough-around-the-edges character who is often portrayed as Luigi's rival. He frequently causes chaos in various Mario spinoff games, usually paired with Wario. While he acts antagonistically, Waluigi is not truly evil and often shows loyalty and affection, especially... read more
He's so creepy looking and a very creepy character.

Bouldergeist
One of the creepiest, darkest, and most visually frightening bosses I have ever faced!

Chill Bully

Chargin' Chuck

Shy Guys are recurring enemies in the Mario and Yoshi video game series. They are known for wearing masks, which they use to hide their faces due to their shyness. These characters have appeared in various games, often acting in different roles such as enemies, racers, and sports players.

Bullet Bill is a fictional enemy character in Nintendo's Mario franchise. First appearing in Super Mario Bros. in 1985, Bullet Bills are black, missile-like characters that chase the player. They are one of the most recognizable recurring enemies in the series.
