Top 10 Scariest Super Mario Bros. Soundtracks
Super Mario games are usually bright, cheerful, and packed with catchy tunes that make you want to hum along as you jump on Goombas and collect coins. But every now and then, the series throws in a track that feels completely out of place. Dark, unsettling, and straight-up eerie. These moments stick with you, not just because they're unexpected, but because they completely change the way you experience the game.Maybe you first heard one of these creepy soundtracks as a kid, playing alone in a dimly lit room, and suddenly felt the need to turn on every light in the house. Or maybe even now, as an adult, certain Mario tracks still give you that uneasy feeling, like something is lurking just out of sight. Some are subtle, creating a slow, creeping sense of dread. Others hit you immediately with harsh tones and unsettling melodies that make you wonder how they ended up in a Mario game at all.
This list ranks the scariest Super Mario soundtracks, based on votes from fans who know just how unsettling these tunes can be. You can vote for the ones that gave you chills, made you pause the game for a breather, or just left you feeling uneasy. If you think a certain track deserves to be at the top, cast your vote and see where it lands.

Are you guys insane? This is by far the most beautiful and inspiring song in a Nintendo game! I can't understand how anyone wouldn't like it.
Actually, you can hear the demonic voices saying, Save us, please, which is interesting. I don't know if this makes the song creepier or if it just makes me sad knowing that they literally can't get out of the river. I definitely understand why people think this song is creepy or disturbing, and I believe it deserves the #1 spot over World of Nothing. Personally, I think the general atmosphere of World of Nothing is more creepy and sad, but this song is more unnerving. What's funny is the number of people who played the game as kids and didn't even give the song a second thought.

World of Nothing makes a close second on this list. This song is from the same game as River Twygz Bed, which proves Super Paper Mario is scary! The fact that this music plays after a world gets destroyed makes it even scarier! The song itself is super scary as it sounds creepy and unsettling. One of the scariest songs in Mario history!
The subtle but clear creepiness of this makes it scarier than the over-the-top River Twygz Bed, in my opinion.

I wasn't sure whether to include this one or the second phase of the Shadow Queen boss fight. But since the second one was more "badass-ery" and hectic, I went with the first phase because it had a calmer and creepier tone than the second. Just listen to it! This song is pure scariness!
This song sounded like it could be a Corpse Party soundtrack! It isn't that scary, but I kinda liked it.

Really, this song just screams creepiness as it starts! Whenever I hear this song, I picture myself isolated somewhere in a frozen ice palace (Superstar Saga and Frozen joke intended). It gets even creepier at 0:45 when those weird and unsettling sounds come out of nowhere.

You wouldn't think a soundtrack from an NES game would make this list, but that's not true. The original castle theme from Super Mario Bros. on the NES is purely creepy, and you feel really isolated! I went with the NES version instead of the SNES one because the latter didn't have the same scary feel as this one.

You may say most Bowser's Castle soundtracks aren't that scary, and that is certainly true. Most Bowser's Castle soundtracks are very upbeat, with a lot going on in the background (specifically, the Bowser's Castle themes in Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8). However, the Bowser's Castle soundtrack from Mario Kart 64 is totally different! It has a creepy feel and sounds so spooky. I'll admit that Mario Kart: Double Dash's Bowser's Castle music was also spooky, but not nearly as spooky as this one. This is the spookiest Bowser's Castle theme!

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is a game that revolves around jokes and laughter, at least until the end of the jokes (pun intended). This song sounds really isolated, and it feels like you're alone while listening to it. You know what I just realized? Frozen ripped off this area in the game or was at least inspired by it.

This is a perfect example of a song that makes you feel very isolated and alone. It's definitely a bit creepy, especially the Inside Bowser version, which is the one I have on my list. That version had creepier sound effects! Also, anyone remember Mario Star Scramble 2: Ghost Island?

This song from Super Mario 64 is pretty well done! It's scary, creepy, and unsettling, and it really fits the mansion since it's big and spooky. Very scary (no pun intended).
The Newcomers

This entire song sounds very unsettling. It has somewhat of a similar feel to the castle theme from Super Mario Bros., but it's somewhat less creepy. However, this song is still scary enough to be on the list. Especially, the GBA version of this song is creepy!
Very similar to Joke's End. Unnerving and ominous.
