He failed to grab the Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Championship, so he moved on to many of wrestling promotions including one from New York AKA The World Wide Wrestling Federation and there he became the hottest heel for 1976 and most of 1977 as he challenged Bruno Sammartino for the title and failed. he became the hottest heel on TV on a fledging WWWF TV show called Championship Wrestling. His celebrated heel was so successful he even took part in CBS Sports' famed World's Strongest Man in 1977.
