Top Ten Atlanta Braves Players of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Hank Aaron Henry Louis Aaron, nicknamed "Hammer" or "Hammerin' Hank", was an American Major League Baseball right fielder who served as the senior vice president of the Atlanta Braves.

Aaron is definitely 1st! Numbers 2 through 9 can be debated, but anyone who doesn't rank Aaron as #1 is clearly basing their vote on something other than baseball.

The absolute best brave ever!

2 Chipper Jones

Chipper is one of my favorite players. He has been since I was a kid

3 Greg Maddux
4 John Smoltz
5 Eddie Mathews

Eddie and Hank we're the most famous 1-2 home run punch in Major League Baseball history. During the 1950s, many of the best hitters of all time come from this decade including Ernie Banks, Duke Snider, Frank Robinson and Mickey Mantle and Eddie Mathews. In 1953 Mathews teammate Warren Spahn said "Mathews is just as strong as Mantle. They don't hit the same - Mantle gets all his weight into his swing; Mathews uses his wrist more, like Ted Williams" Mathews even played in 10 All-Star Games.

6 Warren Spahn
7 Tom Glavine
8 Dale Murphy

As a Brave, he was the franchise in the 1980s and led by example. This great deserves to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of a very select few to be named Most Valuable Player in back-to-back seasons. He was a fixture in those MLB All-Star Games in that decade. But it was 1982 that Murphy will be best remembered. It was in that time that Sports Illustrated called the Braves America's Team due to WTBS coverage of the Braves all across America instead of local. Murphy, a legend for all times.

Lopez had the drive and talent to remain a Brave forever. But sometimes baseball happens, but when he was here, he was good. A member of the 1995 World Championship team, Lopez had a great arm and bat to boot and earned the Silver Slugger award in 2003 as the best hitting catcher in baseball. Yes, Lopez nearly single handedly carried the Braves to a 1996 World Series berth thanks to his outstanding performance in the League Championship Series.
