Anime that Should Have Ended Sooner

If you've been watching anime for a long time, you might have been shocked to hear that a long running anime series is still going on. Sometimes you wish they just ended long ago and not drag out the story. Whether they keep adding spinoffs, more seasons or movies etc. These are anime you think should have ended sooner. They may still be going or they might have ended but they should have ended sooner. I'm not saying that these anime are bad but I am saying that I wish it ended sooner. These first ten will be my opinions and you're free to add in your own. I'll add in ten suggestions and the rest is up to you.
The Top Ten
1 Naruto Naruto is an anime and manga franchise Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto. The manga was later adapted into a television anime, which was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo and other TX Network stations on October 3, 2002. The first series ...read more.

Well what did you expect? Naruto was supposed to end with the 'final' movie Naruto: The Last. Which was a pretty decent Naruto movie. It ended with Naruto becoming Hokage and him raising a family of his own. A happily ever after ending. But then Boruto comes around and I just shook my head in disappointment. Naruto: Shippuden took ten years to finish and now we're still making more Naruto? A lot of fans thought it was unnecessary and I do as well. It's sort of the same thing with the Disney Sequels, why do I want to know what happens after happily ever after? The original ending was fine, don't make it worse.

It honestly should've ended right after the Pain arc.

Even with all its fillers, Naruto is a good anime filled with good ol' Naruniness

2 Bleach Bleach is a Japanese anime series based on Tite Kubo's manga of the same name. Bleach adapts the first 54 volumes of Tite Kubo's manga series of the same name. In addition, 4 anime-original arcs were broadcast in-between and during the adaptations of original arcs of the manga.

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student with the ability to see ghosts. The early parts of the story focus mainly on the characters. As events unfold, the story begins to delve deeper into the world of these gods of death. ...read more.

This anime has sixteen seasons...sixteen seasons?! And also four movies as well. To be honest I haven't really finished on Bleach yet because they're sooo many episodes to go through. And after Aizen was defeated, the show never really picked up my interest again. I like the characters but the story was very generic.

Sixteen Seasons and only about four of them are any good.

Should have ended after azine

3 Pokemon Pokémon, abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters and currently advertised in English as Pokémon: The Series, is a Japanese anime television series, which has been adapted for the international television markets. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 1, 1997, in the United States on September 8, 1998.

This anime should have ended a long time ago but when money talks people listen. And this show was making so much money. So they kept making season after season and movie after movie. However, now it's kind of a running gag for Pokemon to made fun of for running on forever. Voice actors have come and gone, animation quality decreases, characters aren't that enjoyable and the formula is predictable.

4 Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh! was aired from 2000 to 2004 in Japan, and 2001 to 2006 in the US. It continues where the Toei Anime Left off. When 10th grader Yugi Muto solves the Millenium Puzzle, Yami Yugi emerges, taking control of him to help his friends. In Duel Monsters, they mostly played children's card games because war does not exist.

The original Yu-Gi-Oh did end but it ended up getting four spin offs and three movies. For a show based on a card game, that's a really long time. The spin offs aren't as good as the original, the stories aren't as engaging anymore and it feels like they're running out of ideas. I will say Yugioh Arc-V was better than Yugioh Zexal but I'm honestly just done with Yugioh. But Yugioh makes Konami money and that's what they want.

Should've ended on 5D's
Everything Zexal onwards is terrible but I've heard good things about Dark Side of Dimensions and VRAINS though

5 Dragon Ball Dragon Ball is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. It made anime popular in America and is based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama. It was dubbed in English on Cartoon Networks Toonami block and still has many fans today.

Dragon Ball has been on for a very long time as well. Dragon Ball GT was kind of meh for me and I realized because of how long Dragon Ball has been airing. I kind of gotten numb to Dragon Ball and that's because I've seen too much of it. They're moments I like in Dragon Ball Super and GT but they don't excite me like the earlier series did. I just feel like it should have ended sooner.

6 Fairy Tail Fairy Tail is a manga franchise created by Hiro Mashima. The manga has been adapted into an anime series produced by A-1 Pictures and Satelight, which began broadcasting in Japan on October 12, 2009. Additionally, A-1 Pictures and Satelight have developed seven original video animations and an animated feature film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess. The series ended its initial run on March 30, 2013. A new series premiered on TV Tokyo on April 5, 2014.

I stopped watching Fairy Tail after season 3 and watched Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess. Honestly, if you've seen one season of Fairy Tail, you've seen it all. The quality slowly goes down after the same things happen over and over again. Natsu's team is having a good time, bad guy introduces himself, fight, fanservice, exposition, fanservice, fight and the heroes win. I would say watch at least the first season if you want to know what Fairy Tail is like or even watch the second season afterwards. Third season is basically when you get what it's about and you don't have to watch it. I do find the manga more enjoyable strangely and recommend it over the anime.

7 Berserk Berserk, also known as Sword-Wind Chronicle Berserk, is a Japanese anime television series that aired from 1997 to 1998. An adaptation of the manga Berserk, it comprises 25 half-hour episodes produced by Oriental Light and Magic and first aired on Nippon TV.

While I wasn't happy with Berserk's rather questioning ending, I wasn't too thrilled with finding out about a sequel. There's a reason Berserk 2016 only has thirteen episodes, because apparently no one wanted that to be the next step for Berserk. And not just the jerky animation either. Several parts of the manga were cut in and chopped out for the garbage story. Berserk shouldn't have gotten a sequel to say the least.

8 Black Butler Black Butler is a Japanese anime television series produced by A-1 Pictures. It premiered in October, 2008. It was based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Yana Toboso. The series follows Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old Earl of Phantomhive serving as the Queen's Watchdog. He is tasked with solving crimes in the underworld of Victorian-era London. Ciel has formed a contract with demon Sebastian Michaelis, who disguises himself as his butler, to seek revenge on those who tortured him and murdered his parents. In exchange for his services, Sebastian will be allowed to consume Ciel's soul.

The second season shouldn't have been made. The manga for Black Butler is really good and the second season doesn't follow the manga. But instead of good Fullmetal Alchemist quality of not following the manga we have Soul Eater ending kind of quality. Many manga fans were extremely disappointed with the ending and I was too. Other than the fact that the first season ended fine, the second season was just all over the place. Killing off characters right and left, making up excuses to justify actions and had a giant middle finger to the first seasons ending.

9 Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is a Japanese anime television series directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, with screenplay written by Masaki Tsuzuki, and produced by Seven Arcs.

Because Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid (even though it had some good moments and chemistry here and there, I haven't seen ViVid Strike yet) and Magical Record Lyrical Nanoha Force (the sequel manga to StrikerS which I've heard nothing but bad things about) both didn't need to exist.

This series should've honestly ended right after StrikerS.

10 Sword Art Online Sword Art Online is a series of Japanese light novels written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. In 2012, it received an anime adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures and the SAO Project, and is directed by Tomohiko Ito . The first season is divided into two arcs known as "Aincrad" and "Fairy Dance". It has also received a second season, titled Sword Art Online II.

I think that the Fairy Dance Arc should have been scrapped and put in more of the Aincrad Arc. That way Sword Art Online could have added in more to the story and left out some of the more unpleasant parts. Like Sugou, the cousin romance, that creepy Kyouji guy and the utterly dull Ordinal Scale movie. And also, a live action show of the anime is being made...hooray...

The Contenders
11 Infinite Stratos Infinite Stratos, also written as IS is a Japanese light novel series by Izuru Yumizuru with illustrations provided by Okiura and CHOCO.

An exoskeleton weapon engineered by Japan, Infinite Stratos (IS) can be piloted only by women. Its power and combat prowess are so immense that an international treaty has been signed banning its use as a military asset. ...read more.

A really bad harem show that tried to pretend that it was all about sci-fi. But by the second season, you knew it wasn't true. The first season was bad enough but I just thought the second season was even worse. Now it was a complete harem show with barely any sci-fi aspects. At least Highschool DXD knew what it wanted to be, this just didn't need another season.
