Top 10 Most Annoyingly OP Anime Characters

For those who don't know, OP means overpowered. Usually the main character is super strong and can't be beaten down. Yet, the reason why they're powerful isn't explained or explained poorly. They're some characters that make you not care about the fight because you already they're going to win. I am going to add in two characters from the same show on here because I feel like I would be lying to myself if I didn't add them on here. This is my opinion and you're free to add in your own submissions. I realize there's a lot out there and I can't think of everyone. So, here we go....
The Top Ten
1 Ayato Amagiri

Follow up on my last comment: At least with Kirito, another character that is annoyingly overpowered and something I would call a Wish Fulfillment protagonist, I never felt like Kirito was bland in any way. There are some moments that I can sympathize with his character in some points in SAO. Ayato? I feel nothing for him. He's just a boring character who is stupidly overpowered and I feel nothing when it comes to him. I mean, overpowered characters are annoying, but if they lack personality or just really bland, then that makes things worse and hard to even care about what is going on with the said character.

From the Asterisk War. One of the most boring and cliché amines ever, brought about this character. In the first episode he makes the fifth strongest fighter at the school look like a weakling. He blocked all of her attacks, didn't burn any of his clothes when he was in the middle of the explosion and saved her from an assassin. In episode five he loses to the most powerful fighter in the school because he was distracted and didn't remember the rules of the battle. In episode seven he defeats that same opponent and is ranked number one at his school. Heck, in episode two he tames the most powerful weapon the school has and Ayato hasn't done any kind of training before he went to school. Not only was he so OP that he defeated two tournament fighters with one slash but his personality is so generic. He's a nice guy who gets all the ladies. He's basically every harem male lead ever.

2 Shiba Tatsuya

Shiba Tatsuya is so aggravating to watch as a character. He's always there for women to fawn over, he's doing everything effortlessly and everybody being amazed with him. I have never felt tension when watching this anime because of this one character. And he's always around and we never really get to see what the other characters are like. His sister loving him is also very creepy. Her saying onii-sama got very annoying when she kept repeating it. Like when Misa Amane kept saying Misa-Misa.

Honestly, this is the only OP character on the list I'm conflicted with. Sure, he's badass and all (which is the only thing I like about him, but that's it), but his lack of emotion and the fact that he barely struggles to win a fight makes me hard to like him. I can at least defend Kirito's case as to why he's not a Gary Stu since he said that he's level-grinded many times in the game and knows how to play SAO like a pro since he played the beta and got further than any other beta tester (prepare for a NICE, LONG HQ post defending him in the future). Hell, kill me if I could even defend Ayato (because I know how much the anime community hates him to the point he's hated more than Kirito) more than Tatsuya. Say what you want about their character development or them being overpowered, but in my opinion, at least they didn't feel like total robots (again, just my opinion). I mean, seriously. It's pretty hard for me to defend Tatsuya given that he acts like a robot. Which isn't helped ...more

3 Kirigaya Kazuto Kazuto Kirigaya is a fictional character who appears in the Sword Art Online series of light novels by Reki Kawahara.

This is directed to the comment labeled Ningen. I can't actually reply to his/her comment for some reason and the admins have no idea why. So I'm going to respond this way. Ningen here's my official response:

1. From SAO wiki itself states "The NerveGear is able to destroy a person's brain by emitting high-powered microwaves, shutting down one's vital processes, and Sword Art Online's (SAO) operating system has been programmed to do so if the player's Hit Points are reduced to zero." Also the revival item has a thirty second time limit. Asuna was gone far longer than thirty seconds so why did she survive? It never explains if the nervegear puts its user to sleep for that short duration of time or if it's delayed.

2. What makes a character a great character is learning from mistakes. He's automatically better despite losing those innocent people in his guild? You never forget about losing friends and especially if they're dead. Even if there is a timeskip you should never forget about them. Couldn't that be a good reason why he wanted to be a solo player? But then he keeps teaming up with other people and just forgets about what happened the last time he joined up with a guild? That could have gotten some interesting development but he's fine after that? That makes him less human.

3. Is that all you had to say to my claim about Asuna? Nothing to back that you up but a few complaints that I see people use all the time? Especially from people who don't like hearing others criticize their favorite show. Listen, you can like SAO all you want. I'm glad you're enjoying it. However, the list here your presenting me with is not helping prove your point at all. So call me one sided all you want but I'm mature enough to see flaws in a series. I can point out flaws in my favorite anime's but can still enjoy them. SAO fans can do the same and I know you can too.

4 Natsu Dragneel Natsu Dragneel is a Mage of the Fairy Tail Guild.Natsu is carefree and reckless in nature, and, despite his consistent brawls with the other members of Fairy Tail, he is a fiercely loyal and protective friend. He is willing to go down fighting for his friends, regardless of how futile it might seem. ...read more.

Yeah Fairy Tail was boring and repetitive to me. Natsu's overpowered strength didn't help in the slightest. He never loses important fights and when he wins it's usually through the Power of Friendship. It's human nature to lose every once in awhile but when a character feels more like a tool than a human. Which makes me care about this character less.

5 Bell Cranel

Yet again another character who has a cliché personality and wins his fights. The minotaur, Goliath, Silverback Gorilla etc. All the girls practically fawn over him despite not knowing much or anything about him. Some even shove his face in their breasts. He doesn't change as a character and isn't very interesting.

Same protag found in every harem story, coupled with terrible writing.

another run of he mill OP anime protag,

Somehow some basic fando outcast gets a good item from a world renouned maker, gets really powerful, teams up with some girls, and then even MORE girls want to be with him!

basicaly he has no personality, hasnt worked to get to where he is at ALL.

6 Orochimaru Orochimaru is a fictional character from the Naruto universe created by Masashi Kishimoto and developed into a media franchise, which consists of a series of manga, anime, soundtracks, OVAs, movies, video games, and other collectibles.

Why won't you just die? I know you started off as a great villain but it's time to move on. He has an arsenal of ninjas doing his bidding and many abilities. yet when it seems like he'll die, he just keeps coming back. It doesn't even matter if he's completely destroyed, he can come back to life anyways using Living Corpse Reincarnation and it's so annoying. he became less of a villain and more of a nuisance.

7 Mikasa Ackerman Mikasa Ackerman is a fictional character in the manga and anime series Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin in Japanese, created by Hajime Isayama. She accompanies the main protagonist Eren Jaeger. Her most notable feature is the red scarf that she wears. She is one of the most strongest ...read more.

If anything, Eren's OP, but I wouldn't say Mikasa is...

If Eren died, Mikasa becomes super strong because of her ackerman power

8 Tatsumi

At least Akame had somewhat of a personality, Tatsumi was the harem protagonist lead. He got all the women, he was so OP and survived because he was the main character. I will say I'm glad he at least married the woman he loved but I still never cared about this guy because I was never given any reason to.

Wait, didn't he die at the end of the anime? I don't know about the manga, but I'm pretty sure he didn't make it out alive at the end.

9 Akame Akame, also known as Akame of the Demon Sword Murasame, is the titular deuteragonist, alongside Tatsumi, and lead anti-heroine of the manga series Akame ga Kill!, as well as the main protagonist of the prequel manga Akame ga Kill! Zero.

Was anyone surprised that Akame didn't die in Akame Ga Kill? Maybe it's because her name is in the title. This anime already suffered from shock value and killing off characters as soon as there backstory was revealed. Six night raid members are killed and yet I was never once worried about Akame because of how strong she is. True, it didn't help that her name was in the title so she was better off but it didn't really make me care for the character because I was never worried about her.

10 Saitama Saitama is the main protagonist of the webcomic and anime series One Punch Man, who could easily destroy a continent with one punch. He is bored with his extreme power. He is registered with the Heroes Association as a C-Class Superhero and is tasked to defend Z-City against Mysterious Beings.

OP characters need badassery to have some sort of appeal. Saitama sadly fails at it.

The Contenders
11 Ibuki Ibuki is a character in Capcom's Street Fighter series. She first appeared in Street Fighter III in 1997.

This guy is from Chaos Dragon. A very boring anime with a 5/10 score on myanimelist. The main character's OP power is get this...kill someone else by killing your friend. Who thought that was a good idea? What's worse is that people seem generally okay with him killing them just so he can use his power. Even though he never knew most of these people or didn't know them that very well. He never dies throughout this anime because of that one special power. He's also very annoying because he's a big crybaby. Ergh...

12 Goku Son Goku (Kakarrot) is the main protagonist in Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama in 1984. He has many abilities like, super strength, utilization of ki, flight, teleportation, super speed, enhanced reflexes, and Super Saiyan transformation that increase strength, speed, and durability... read more

I don't find him annoying nor overpowered. It's just that fans usually overrate his powers. He lost a lot, and doesn't always get the glory like most people say. Cell was beaten by Gohan, and Buu was beaten by the combined effort of everyone on Earth. Gohan, Gotenks, Buu,..etc.. are stronger than him in DBZ, and Zeno, Dai Shinkan, Marcarita, Vados, Whis, Beerus, Champa,..etc.. are stronger than him in Dragon Ball Super, and Vegeta became his equal in DBS as well.

His show is based on the fact that he's OP. And of course Super made him have god powers so now he's entered a realm that is beyond OP. Such a boring guy.

If you not saiyan your nothing in DBZ and DBS.

13 Medaka Kurokami

She was just very generic and seemed like a contrived character. She looks down at others and yet she believes in the good of them. What sense does that make? Then her abilities are many and make her super powerful. Superhuman physiology, advanced growth rate, combat expert etc. I know some people like her and that's fine but I just couldn't.

I hated this character. She feels like that stereotypical anime student council president that should be a side character. NOPE, she's the protagonist. And her quips are beyond terrible.

14 Erza Scarlet Erza Scarlet is an S-Class Mage from the infamous magic guild Fairy Tail. Erza starts off as a lone wolf and stays loyal to following the rules. As the story develops Erza changes into loving mage strong and independent. As her terrible past haunts her she ignores her Nakama's calls that they want help. Erza's past starts with her working to build the dangerous tower called the Tower of Heaven also known as the R-System. Meant to resurrect Lord Zeref the evil Dark Wizard. Erza is taken back to the nightmares that she tried to run away from but failed because of her old friends holding her hostage. Having no choice but to risk her life for her Nakama she tried to fuse her body with a lacrima ...read more.

She used to be written really well, escpecially during th Tower of Heaven arc. But now, Mashima is making Erza pull random armors out of her ass, and continuously makes her wear the Clear Heart outfit, which isn't even her strongest armor. And somehow she was able to defeat a demon who's strength increases every second AND had each of her 5 senses stolen from her. Oh, and of course, the explanation to that is because "she's Erza".

Power of Friendship ruined her character.

15 Sasuke Uchiha - Naruto Sasuke Uchiha is a fictional character from the manga and anime franchise Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto.
16 Toppo
17 Frieza - Dragon Ball Freeza (Pronounced "Frieza" in the Funimation dub) is fictional character in the Dragon Ball series by Akira Toriyama as the primary antagonist of the Freeza Saga. He is a galactic tyrant who governs the Planet Trade Organization and is feared by the universe for his sadistic and brutal nature. He is ...read more.

20 Chizuru Aizawa - Squid Girl
21 Kira Yamato - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
22 Inaho Kaizuka - Aldnoah. Zero

OP for no reason and no personality and overall shallow character need I say more?

23 Atlas - Astro Boy
24 Bardock - Dragon Ball Bardock is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama. He is the father of Goku. ...read more.
25 Lucy - Elfen Lied Lucy (born as kaede), is a tragic, fictional Japanese Anti-Heroine, and Anti-Villianess, who is the main protagonist of her debut source, a manga officially known as Elfen Lied [alfen leed], written and illustrated by Lynn Okamoto, which was best known for it's T.V. adaptation of the same name, Directed ...read more.
