Best Countries at Baseball
Absolutely fantastic. Strong hitters and professional players dominate. Anyone arguing for the US does not know what they are talking about. Even American teams, like the Phillies for example, have many Dominican players. Power of Mangu!
Winning the World Baseball Classic in 2013 felt really good to them. Having Nelson Cruz, Jose Reyes, Adrian Beltre, Edwin Encarnacion, and Jose Bautista on their team makes me rank them first.
Most MLB active players per capita. We are speaking of a small ten million population, with a lot of professional players.
The USA is the World Baseball Classic champion for 2017. They finally put together a team that played with enthusiasm and was equipped with great coaching and chemistry. This took them to a world championship. Well done!
How can the US not be the best? Even if the majority of the Dominican Republic is better than the majority of the USA, the population of the USA is way bigger than any of those other countries.
The U.S. is simply better. The Dominican Republic may be talented, but the U.S. is a monster compared to them.
I'm from Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), but part of our baseball heritage was passed on from Japan during World War II when they colonized Taiwan. The baseball there is very fundamental and won't make serious mistakes. They are harsh and will make you fundamentally good!
Japan is overall outstanding at baseball. They have developed their own style of baseball that can triumph over teams with players much bigger and taller than them. Additionally, Japan has a great little league which feeds into the professional leagues.
Japan is incredible. It is the only team that has ever gotten first place in the WBC twice. They have great players.
I think the Dominican Republic is the best now, but Cuba is very special. Why? Because Cuba holds the record for the most wins in the World Cup of Baseball (25 times), the Intercontinental Cup (10 times), and Olympic medals (5 times). Isn't that special?
It's the only country that represents without Cuban professional MLB players.
The most champions at a real world tournament. The World Series is not worldwide.
Baseball is like a religion for us. It is part of our culture, and we just love it. We bring some of the best players to the sport. It's that simple.
Venezuela should be number three on this list, not number four. Far and away, Venezuela has more stars in the MLB than Cuba.
Taiwan beat Japan and Korea this year, both Professional and U-18. The U-18 team also beat the US! Undoubtedly, Taiwan is at top form this year.
Taiwan's baseball is the best because they are improving every day in the CPBL, and many other countries want to buy players from Taiwan.
Taiwan is so good at it, other countries are trying to buy players from there.
Joey Votto, Michael Saunders, Justin Morneau, and Scott Diamond on their team makes them rank this high in my rankings.
Their teams are always so competitive, and baseball is a huge sport in this country. I did a lot of research, and it is more right at number seven.
South Korea easily beats out Japan. Period.
It's funny how Korea is in the top 10 because, according to the WBSC, they've been winning three in a row, beating all the countries above.
Even though being a minority in numbers, Mexico's players have a lot to say. With legends such as Fernando Valenzuela, Vinicio Castilla, Nomar Garciaparra, Roberto Avila, and others, Mexico has contributed great players to the major leagues. Currently, Adrian Gonzalez, Sergio Romo, Julio Urias, Daniel Perez, Oliver Perez, and many others represent their country in this pastime sport. Baseball is also one of the most popular sports in Mexico. Viva Mexico!
Taiwan and Canada ahead of Mexico? The list was decent until especially Taiwan. I do not know of any notable players from Taiwan.
The Newcomers
How about British baseball? No, it's not a myth. It's an old game.
Kids are playing baseball in Sweden. Even the teens and adults play too.
Belgian baseball is catching up in European baseball.
Baseball is growing here in Belgium.
