Top 10 Carolina Panthers Draft Busts

This doesn’t always work as planned and the Carolina Panthers have had their share of busts. These are players who are taken early in the Draft and never quite live up to their expectations. These are the top 5 NFL Draft busts for the Carolina Panthers in their franchise history.
The Top Ten
1 Rae Carruth

''Carruth was actually a decent player his first few years in the NFL. But in 1999, he was arrested and later convicted of conspiring to murder a woman who was pregnant with his child. The Panthers have distanced themselves from Carruth and his story forever, and for good reason.'' Interestingly enough this all time famous bust is set to be released from jail in 2018 that's gonna be something.

2 Tim Biakabutuka

''Biakabutuka out of the University of Michigan. He went on to play six seasons in the NFL, all with the Panthers. The reason he made the list was he struggled to stay healthy. He never played a full 16 game regular season and played a total of 12 games in his first two years in the league. However, when he was on the field he did play well and finished with a career rushing yards per attempt average of 4.1. He had his best season in 1999 when he ran for over 700 rushing yards and had six rushing touchdowns.''

3 Jason Peter

''Peters would go on to only play four season in the NFL, all with the Panthers. He started only 20 games, all of which came in the first two years in the league. The biggest issue Peters had was he was not able to stay on the field. In the four years in the league, he had seven surgeries on his neck and spine according to this article by Bill Finley of the New York Times.''

4 Rashard Anderson

''Anderson played in 12 games as a rookie and 15 games with nine starts in 2001. He tallied only one interception with Carolina before being suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy in 2002. After failing to do what was necessary for reinstatement in 2003, Anderson was let go immediately by the Panthers and never played in the NFL again.''

5 Kerry Collins

''Collins was the Panthers' first draft pick in 1995. The quarterback struggled with alcoholism during his time in Carolina, which led to his release during the 1998 season.'' Luckily he managed to turn his life around as he won make a super bowl with the Giants.

6 Jeff Otah

''Otah's was great for a year or two and then quickly came down to bust level thereafter. At least he had one good year in there.''

7 Blake Brockermeyer

Brockermeyer had problems staying on the field thus like Poole after 3 season he was gone, and went to sum other teams to ride it out for a decent run else where.

8 Shaq Thompson

I remember in 2015 how shocked I was when Ron Rivers chose to take a linebacker first round, and I go what? You have Luke Kuechly, and Thomas Davis... was that not perfect enough or yeah when there were other bigger needs on the board. Since than Shaq has been on the field rarely do anything thus a total waste of defensive schemed plays waiting to be exposed.

9 Dwayne Jarrett

''Jarrett is further proof of how difficult it can be to stumble upon a steal in the second round of the NFL Draft. The Panthers should have selected WR Steve Smith, his more polished teammate at USC.'' Jarrett was presumably a first round talent in 2003, but instead he bounced out of it, but not many remember him as an ultimate bust, but more like one Carolina fanbase got on his nerves to this day.

10 Tyrone Poole

Poole was mostly a inconsistent defensive back that did not amount that much other than he at least won two rings thanks to Brady and Belichick. In his time in Carolina he recorded 3 sacks, and 5 picks which is pretty low for second round talent to be a likely starter for 3 seasons.
