Most Interesting Characters in Elfen Lied

No one is without flaws and Elfen Lied is full of characters with flaws. But which characters grabbed our attention more? You don't have to like these characters but there mistakes and charm can make them so enjoyable to watch. Spoilers will be down below but the manga was released over ten years ago and so was the anime.
The Top Ten
1 Lucy Lucy (born as kaede), is a tragic, fictional Japanese Anti-Heroine, and Anti-Villianess, who is the main protagonist of her debut source, a manga officially known as Elfen Lied [alfen leed], written and illustrated by Lynn Okamoto, which was best known for it's T.V. adaptation of the same name, Directed by Mamoru Kanbe, and written by Takao Yoshioka, she, Japanese wise, was voiced by Sanae Kobayashi, Kira Vincent-Davis (Carli Mosier for the OVA), English wise. She's a Diclonius, a human-like species with fatal hand-like telekinetic powers, known as vectors, which can slice anything, let alone, anyone, in an unexpected moment.

Lucy was my favorite, and many people's favorites from Elfen Lied. Other than her telekinetic abilities, she had gone through some pretty horrible things. If anyone's seen the infamous puppy scene, you know what I mean. How the world treated Lucy and her struggles to fit into the world made Elfen Lied great.

She rocks, does she not?

2 Nana

Someone who was abused and controlled to do what the government wanted her to do. She went trough their torturous methods because she wanted to help her Papa. But he wasn't really her Papa and used her in the beginning. However, she slowly finds her way through the help of her new friends.

3 Mayu

Mayu's background made he sick to my stomach when watching. Her stepfather and mother were abusive to her and she ran away. As an orphan, she lived alone and eventually grew to care for the people who took her in.

Poor Mayu. Her childhood was so sad.

4 Kurama

A man who ended up having a child that ended up being a Diclonius child. He ended up losing his wife and child and ended up working for the people who put away Diclonius. He slowly learns that what he's doing is wrong and in the ends pays for his sins.

5 Mariko Kurama

At first she seemed like a psychotic little girl. Her first scene was shocking and the last episode is what really hits the feels for everyone. She wasn't just some insane killer, she was a little girl who just wanted her family.

I like Mariko because she's as understandable as the other diclonii out there and I feel bad for her.

She is most interesting character ever!

6 Shirakawa

A spy who ends up spying on Director Kakuzawa. She was sadly humiliated by him through sexual harassment in order to spy on him. She grows close to Kurama and has a business like relationship with him. However, she can't be with him since that's not what Kurama wants from her.

7 Kouta

Kouta is very generous and took in so many unwanted children. Like Lucy, Mayu and Nana. He had a traumatic past that he's tried to forget about and doesn't really remember at all. The truth however, eventually hurts him.

8 Director Kakuzawa

This guy is despicable. He's a Diclonius like Lucy but is isn't as much thanks to genetics. This man wants to take over the world by wiping out humanity and having a all Diclonius world. The methods or torture he uses on others and the way he humiliates others is what made him a rotten villain. The manga ends properly with him but the anime is unfinished with the ending.

9 Arakawa

This character is much better in the manga than in the anime. She ends up becoming the key to helping humanity. I won't spoil too much but she plays a very important role.

10 Kanae

Kanae was Kouta's sister and really cared about him. In the flashbacks, her last few moments with Kouta were so sad before she ends up dying.
