Worst #15 Overall NFL Draft Picks

The Top Ten
1 Huey Richardson

''The most confounding bust in Steelers history had a stat line unthinkable for a first-round pick: zero tackles and zero sacks in 16 career games, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote of Richardson. "The Steelers selected the All-American out of Florida to bolster the pass rush, but after one season, coach Bill Cowher had seen enough and traded him.''

When Richardson was active, tackles were not an official stat. Sources say he recorded either 0 to 2 in his career.

2 Yatil Green

''Yatil Green is one of those players who just had bad luck in the NFL.

On the first day of training camp, Green completely destroyed his right knee and was forced to miss the entire season. He came back the following season, but once again tore his ACL in the same knee.

In just three seasons, Green compiled a total of 10 surgeries.''

3 Jerome McDougle

''In his rookie season, 2003, he was injured in the final preseason game against the Jets and missed eight games of the regular season. At the time it was said that he had injured his ankle, hip and knee.
In 2004, he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and missed a game only to return and sprain his knee, causing him to miss the final four games of the season.
In 2005, just days before he was to report to training camp McDougle was shot in the abdomen during a robbery attempt in Miami, Florida. Complications from emergency surgery cost him the entire 2005 season.
In 2006 he fractured two ribs in preseason and missed the first three games of the year. In his return, he committed 30 yards of penalties in one play to set the Tampa Bay Bucs up for a 62 yard game winning FG in October.
In 2007, he tore his triceps in preseason and missed the entire year.
In 2008 he was cut after a fairly impressive preseason and picked up by the Giants. However, he never really played ...more

4 John Clay

''He lasted two seasons in the League and only one in Oakland before being bounced from the NFL.

His claim to fame was being traded away after his first season in Oakland, along with two draft picks, for Jim Lachey, who was then traded to Washington for Jay Schroeder and two draft picks.

The best thing that he did was fail his physical in San Diego, play only two games and cost them All-Pro OT, Jim Lachey who went on to be a dominant OT for the Redskins.''

5 Ron Faurot

''1984 was a banner year in Jets drafting futility. As their first of two first round picks in this draft amounted to nothing, so did their second.

Ron Faurot played exactly 20 games for the Jets before suffering a career ending knee injury. In those 20 games he manged to record 2 measly sacks.''

6 Corey Coleman

Before they would get three picks the next draft they just took an extra receiver for Johnny football at the time. However his highlight well be not holding onto the ball against Pittsburgh where they could of had their one win, and instead his team went 0-16 because of his fatal mistake as they joined the 08's Lions his career hasn't been the same since.

7 Tye Hill

''From top to bottom the Rams screwed it up, but their first round pick, 15th overall, turned out to be a huge bust, even after showing a little promise pressed into duty during his rookie season. Clemson CB Tye Hill had all kinds of athletic ability. Injuries, system changes...cite whatever excuse you want, there's no shortage of them. The bottom line is that Hill was a bust for the Rams. After his rookie year, watching Hill get burned was just a regular part of the weekly Rams losses.''

8 Johnny Mitchell

''Mitchell lasted four years in New York. He actually put up decent numbers in his second and third years and showed some signs of development. He had 58 catches for 749 yards in 1994.

Mitchell's production fell off a cliff a year later. Part of it was due to the Kotite regime's inexplicable first round pick of Kyle Brady to play the same position. If Mitchell was really that good, though, he would have found a way to stay in the lineup and produce. He certainly would have lasted more than one more season in the league after leaving the Jets and registered more than 1 catch. Johnny's inability to make big plays and propensity to drop passes did him in.''

9 Michael Clayton

''As the draft goes along, there is a guy out of LSU that certainly didn't live up to the expectations he had. His name was Michael Clayton. He was taken with the 15th overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So it was clear he helped move the chains and keep the offense moving. He started out with the Bucs, played in the United Football League in 2010, and then finished with the Giants. In seven NFL seasons, he had 10 total touchdown receptions.''

10 Kolton Miller

This is too early to say, but based off of things seen. Kolton had a very bad rookie year veteran Donald Penn took over him might be a sign of things to come. Jon Gruden admitted at the last minute he wanted safety Darwin James who fell two spots later to the Chargers in what was massive steal at the time for a guy who was suppose to fall in the top 10 somehow fall into a west coasts teams lap. Meanwhile time well tell, but right now Kolton Miller's days could be numbered real quickly.
