I'm surprised of not founding this decade in the top 10:
1.World Cups organized again after the WWII.
2.Two of the three best World Cups were in this decade (1954 Switzerland, 1958 Sweden). The first one was the Cup with the highest average of goals (5.4 per match).
3.The greatest team of a club appeared, Real Madrid.
4.The first super player appeared, Di Stefano and in the end of the decade Pele.
5.The European organization was founded (1954) and Continental competitions started in Europe, the Champions Cup (1955).
6.The first official award for the best player established, Ballon d'Or for the best European player (1956).
7.The match with the greatest attendance took part (World Cup final 1950,Brazil - Uruguay 1-2, 199,854 people).
