Movie Review - Blade Runner 2049
MegaSoulhero Alright. Now that I’ve escaped that psychotic brony, I can finally review Blade Runner 2049! That brony is still looking for me by the way. I really loved the first Blade Runner movie. So I was very excited to see this one. Did it live up to the hype? Well let’s find out and discuss Blade Runner 2049!This sequel takes place thirty years after the first movie. There’s a new blade runner named K, played by Ryan Gosling, who sets out to find Rick Deckard, played once again by Harrison Ford, to help him solve a mystery. The entire movie looks gorgeous! Out of all the movies to come out this year, this has the best visuals by far! There wasn’t a single visual I didn’t like! Every scene looked gorgeous! The backgrounds and the atmosphere is just so amazing! Despite my hatred for Ghost in the Shell, one thing I liked about that movie was how beautiful it looked. Blade Runner 2049, however, looks a hundred times better! None of it looks fake! They really put in a lot of detail to make it look like they are actually in that universe! It helps that technology has improved since the first movie. Another thing that stands out is the performances! This is quite possibly Ryan Gosling’s best performance by far! He perfectly captures the emotions of the characters! His line deliveries always feel authentic! Jared Leto’s in the movie as well. He appears even less in this movie than he does in Suicide Squad. But when he does appear, he is absolutely terrifying! Leto does a phenomenal job at making his character act this way! Which is great considering Leto was a horrible Joker. Harrison Ford shows us that he still has what it takes! He doesn’t appear in the movie until about two hours into the movie, but I like how the movie kept us waiting for what was to come. And when we did end up getting to see Harrison Ford, it was worth the wait!
I’m just gonna warn you right now that this isn’t a movie for everyone. Some people might find it pretty boring. You might find the scenes to be slow at times. Most of it is dialogue and not a lot of action. And the movie is nearly 3 hours. Well, this isn’t really an action movie. This is just something you should keep in mind when going to see the movie. There is some action in it, but it’s not the main focus. And the amount of dialogue is very necessary for moving the plot forward. 2049 is the perfect example of how to make a sequel. By making it feel fresh and original! It really feels like its own thing! I’m not saying that sequels that use elements from their predecessors are always bad. I enjoyed Force Awakens and the Indiana Jones sequels. But 2049 actually gives us something new! It actually expands! This doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be the same thing as the first movie! They introduce us to new characters, they give us new environments, and they give us a whole new plot! The cinematography is amazing! I watched the movie in IMAX and I was blown away by how amazing the cinematography was! This is some Oscar-worthy stuff! I loved every minute of it!
Blade Runner 2049 is not just the best movie of the year, it’s one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen! It’s a sequel that actually tries to be its own thing and actually succeeds at it while giving us such amazing visuals and an excellent cast of characters! I really hope this doesn’t become one of those movies that gets so popular that people think it will make them cool and edgy if they hate on it. Kind of like another Ryan Gosling movie that comes to mind. Anyway, this is such a fantastic movie! Go see this and not My Little Pony! It’s amazing!

Incredible. Truly lives up to the original. - iliekpiez
Great review! I absolutely love the spectacular film, but there's only one con I see upon my orbs(eyes): I don't think K's relationship with Joi doesn't really sum up at an emotional level as Rachael and Rick. It doesn't feel much realistic as Rick's relationship with Rachael because Joi is just a Wallace product, and sure, Rachael is an experiment, but at least she's not made out of Data shards and certainly not a holographic image. I understand that K has a relationship with Joi to cope with his loneliness of being discriminated as a replicant and no one on his side except for the LAPD and also Joi, but this is just my opinion. - Kevinsidis
